on image and intuition.
taste doesn’t appear out of nowhere. It builds over time. You train it, by noticing, repeating, and being present. It’s like when you’ve had enough good coffee: you just know when something’s off. You can explain it. You feel it.
That’s what image-making has become for me. The more I watch films, observe light in real life, study framing and movement, the more I stop guessing.
Intuition grows through reference. When you’ve seen honest, strong work, your eye remembers. But it’s not just memory, it’s also curiosity. Staying open. Asking questions. That’s what keeps the work alive. Kids are curious by default. Somewhere along the way we forget.
I think the goal is to hold onto that. This isn’t a guide, just a reflection on how looking becomes intuition, and how curiosity keeps it alive.

FEELS JUST LIKE MIRAGE
that’s bold for me to say and even early, but i’ve always looked at some of the things i’ve already done as goals, despite the size of this goal, this year felt like it’s not what i’m looking for, or it’s not as i expected, exactly like a mirage, every time i reach it, it disappears. honestly, right now i don’t know what my goals are or how they should be. i know i want to make films, but i hope it will be an exciting journey, including getting out of the one-man show trap mentioned below. still feels like a mirage.

Taking landscape photographs feels right again.
Had these moments when I was at Palestine visiting my family and was just thinking of these views as something I grew up with not knowing how beautiful they are.
I would love to have a film shot here in Sir where I spent my first 18 years of my life.

That’s me, in the middle of the one-man show trap. It’s been seven years of work experience and 90% of the projects I did by myself. only working with very few people.
I’m trapped because I taught myself a lot of skills in the video production. I can direct, shoot, edit and color a video that a client would be happy with. but the budget doesn’t cover a 7-12 crew members who I would thrive to invite to help me on these projects.
With the very few projects that I’ve worked as a cinematographer only, I found it very inspiring.
After these years I’m fighting to get out of this trap even if it costs me to get less payed, or having to deal with surprises.
